What is simply represented in these pages is a working reality that has been existing for around one thousand years. In the eleventh century Molino il Moro was already a cereal mill, a blacksmith forge in the twelfth century and a paper mill in the thirteenth, and so forth until the mid+ nineties when the restoration began. It is still possible to observe the underground canalisation of water "the gore" of Colle, which by means of deviations and locks enables us to experience the functioning of the grinding stones as it was hundreds of years ago.

 

 

 

Molino il Moro is a synthesis of the life and work of Colle. A living monument of Tuscan history. Today the Molino il Moro is here far the joy of all, open to the public as a restaurant, for wine and oil tasting, for private dinners, banquets, and conferences.

 

 

 

Molino il Moro is open to the public both for lunch and dinner. We are closed all day Monday and Tuesday lunchtime. It is possible to taste typical Tuscan dishes accompanied at times by live music, theatrical happenings, and historical performances. Upon request , we can organise a guided visit of the molino and the tasting of typical sienese products.

 

 

 

 

The ampie cantine of the Molino with it's magnificent vaults, can accomodate conferences with a buffet or dinner to follow.
